A Leicestershire primary school teacher who was seen kicking and punching a horse in a now-viral video has lost her job.

Sarah Moulds, 37, was seen abusing the animal on a country road in a video that was shared online in November.

The video was shared by the Hertfordshire Hunt Saboteurs on Twitter, where it was viewed thousands of times.

Once the video had surfaced, Ms Moulds - who had been teaching at Somerby Primary School, owned by Mowbray Education Trust - was suspended by the school, pending an investigation.

Sarah Moulds has lost her job teaching at Somersby Primary School following the incident.

Following that, the school has now confirmed that Ms Moulds is no longer teaching at the school.

In a statement, Paul Maddox, chief operating officer at the school, said that the teacher's employment had been "terminated".

"As a Trust we are committed to ensuring the best standard of education for all of our young people and we look forward to continuing this throughout the 2021/22 academic year and beyond," he added.

The incident has since been reported to the RSPCA to investigate the issue further.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA called the footage "really upsetting" and urged that anyone with relevant information should contact 0300 123 4999.
