Drinking on train leads to crash into parked caravan in Newark
Woman banned from driving for 12 months after admitting drink-driving
A woman who crashed her car into a parked caravan has been sentenced for drink-driving.
Heather Allmond collided with the caravan just 200 metres from Newark Station, shortly after drinking on a train back from London .
The crash occurred at around 6.20pm on 2nd May 2024, on Lincoln Street in Newark.
Witnesses reported that her car hit the side of a stationary caravan with such force that it became stuck underneath and could not be reversed free.
Members of the public helped the 38-year-old, from Marshalls Rise, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, from her car at the scene.
Both vehicles were severely damaged, but no one sustained serious injuries.
Allmond initially denied drink-driving until the day she was due to face trial. On 24th November 2025, she changed her plea and admitted the charge at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
She was sentenced to a 12-month driving ban and a 12-month community order, which includes completing 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
Allmond was also fined £114 and ordered to pay £1,000 in court costs.
PC Jon Skilling, of Nottinghamshire Police, praised the efforts of officers who investigated the case and issued a warning about the dangers of drink-driving.
“Heather Allmond is incredibly lucky that her decision to drive that day didn’t lead to her or someone else being severely injured,” he said.
“If anyone needs reminding of the dangers of drink-driving then I’d urge them to take a look at the picture of this collision."
Skilling added: “Our officers put in a lot of work to gather the evidence needed as part of this case, so we’re pleased to see Allmond has now been sentenced.”
