Suspected XL Bully seized after man injured in dog attack in Beeston

A man has suffered leg and hand injuries after a dog attack in Beeston.

Nottinghamshire Police said they seized a dog, thought to be an XL Bully type, from an address on High Road this afternoon.

A 44 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control.

Nottinghamshire Police have issued the following statement:

"Officers were called to High Road shortly after 8.45am on Wednesday (9 October) following reports a man had been attacked by a dog.

"Following inquiries, police arrested a 44-year-old man this afternoon at an address in Beeston on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control. He remains in custody.

"Officers also seized a dog, believed to be an XL Bully type, from the address. It remains in secure kennels.

"The victim, a 26-year-old man, was taken to hospital after suffering injuries to his leg and hand. His injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening."

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “While we have now made an arrest in connection with this incident, the investigation is ongoing.

“At the time the incident occurred this area of Beeston was busy with people.

"I’d urge anyone who saw what happened, or has any other information which could aid our investigation, to please get in contact with us if they haven’t already done so.”
