Officers are appealing for witnesses after two children on an e-scooter were involved in a collision with a car in Leicestershire.

They were crossing Rutherford Road in Beaumont Leys at around half past 3 yesterday afternoon (Sunday 5 March).

Two boys, aged 11 and 12, were both riding on an e-scooter when they were involved in a crash with a silver Honda Insight car.

The 11-year-old child was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he remains in a serious condition.

His injuries aren't life threatening or life changing and he's been discharged from hospital.

The driver of the car wasn’t injured.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand is being encouraged to get in touch with police.

Officers also want to speak to anyone who has dashcam footage and may have captured any part of the incident.
