Cat stuck in tree for 3 days in Nottingham rescued
Bean was rescued from 30ft up by the RSPCA and fire fighters
A cat is reunited with its owner after being stuck up a tree in Nottingham for three days.
The RSPCA and firefighters were called out to some trees just off Landmere Gardens on the 9th October, where a male tabby and white cat called Bean was stuck 30ft up.
RSPCA inspector Annette Della-Porta attended the scene in a copse of trees off Landmere Gardens in Nottingham on Monday 9 October where a male tabby and white cat called Bean was stuck up a tall tree.
She said: “I looked up and saw the poor cat about 30ft up a very tall tree and thought there’s no way I can get up that far. We tried all sorts to try and get him to come down. He has a brother at home so we put the sibling cat carrier and got them to call to each other in the hope that Bean would climb down for his brother. They meowed at each other a lot but the poor cat was frozen solid - he was so scared.
“I called the fire service for assistance but I wasn’t quite sure how they would reach him either. Thankfully they arrived with a nine metre ladder and managed to climb up. He was so scared that when the ladder went up against the tree, he scurried even further up and wet himself - the poor thing!
“I gave the firefighters advice on how to handle the cat properly and thankfully they were then able to bring him down safely. I checked him over and luckily, he was totally fine, just a little dehydrated from being up there for a few days.
“I’m so glad this rescue had a happy ending - it’s a great reminder of what we can achieve together for animal welfare. We were able to reunite this puss with his grateful owner. Everyone was in tears when we got him down. Bean is clearly a very well loved cat!”
