Teenager arrested in connection with alleged metal pole attack in Leicester

Police investigating the assault of two men in Leicester's Castle Gardens have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Officers were alerted to the attack, which is believed to have involved a metal police and taken place inside a hut in the park, between midnight and 2am on Sunday (18th January 2025).

One of the victims remains in hospital receiving treatment, while the other has been discharged.

Arrest and investigation

The boy was taken into custody yesterday (Thursday 22nd January) but has since been released on bail as investigations continue.

Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Vicki Hudson, from Leicestershire Police's Complex Investigation Team, said: “Our investigation into this incident is very much still ongoing.

“Following some enquiries, we have made an arrest, but we are still keen to speak to anyone who may have information that can assist.

“I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area in the early hours of this morning – did you see anyone acting suspiciously near the park? Did you see anyone entering or leaving the park between the times given?

“Any information you have, no matter how small it may seem, could help with our investigation.”

Officers are asking anyone with information to call 101, quoting crime reference 26*32801.
