Driver arrested following major collision in Castle Donington

A man's been arrested after a pedestrian was seriously hurt in a collision in Castle Donington.

A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car and seriously injured in Castle Donington last night (7 Sept).

It happened on Arundel Avenue shortly before 9:30pm and involved a black VW Golf and a pedestrian.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with injuries that are thought to be life-changing.

The driver, a man aged 24, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

The road was closed but has since reopened.

Leicestershire Police said: "An investigation into the incident has begun and remains at an early stage as we carry out our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have any information which would be of relevance to our investigation is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 678 of 7 September.
