Police say a body found in a Leicestershire river is that of a missing woman from Loughborough.

51 year old Marie Wan was reported missing in March.

Her body's now been identified after being recovered from the River Soar in Zouch on Sunday.

In a statement, Leicestershire Police said: "The body of a woman found in the River Soar near Main Street in Zouch on Sunday 28 April has been identified as Marie Wan.

"Mrs Wan, 51, had been reported missing to police after last being seen in the Loughborough area on Wednesday 13 March. A missing person investigation was launched and a number of public appeals were made to help find Mrs Wan.

"Following a call received shortly before 1pm on Sunday 28 April, police attended to the river where Mrs Wan’s body was sadly later recovered from the water. Formal identification has now taken place.

"The cause of Mrs Wan’s death is not being treated as suspicious and full support is being provided to Mrs Wan’s family.

"A file is being prepared for HM Coroner.

"Thank you to everyone who helped with our appeals to find Mrs Wan and who provided information to us.

"The family and friends of Mrs Wan have also extended their thanks to officers involved in the investigation as well as to members of the public who helped in the search for Mrs Wan."
