Arson investigation launched after Nottingham pub fire
No-one is thought to have been injured
A fire at a derelict pub in Nottingham is being investigated as arson.
Firefighters were called to The Bakersfield on Oakdale Road just after 9 pm on Wednesday 11th September to reports of a fire.
Police believe no-one was injured in the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the vacant pub.
A joint investigation has been launched between Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service into the suspected arson.
In a statement, the Force say "Our investigations are at an early stage but initial indications suggest this fire was started deliberately."
"Arson is an extremely serious offence that can lead to tragic consequences, so we will be working hard to find out who is responsible"
NFRS Station Manager Richard Booth says "The disused pub has been left severely fire-damaged and may now be structurally unsafe, so we ask that the public stay away from the site for their safety."
"The fire was started on the first floor of the building, and it spread to the roof."
