A man who assaulted a woman and repeatedly breached a restraining order against him has been locked up.

Rowan Grant grabbed the woman and caused her to hit her head after showing up at her home unannounced.

She was left with a cut to the back of her head following the attack in the Bestwood area of Nottingham on 26th January 2022.

Despite already being banned from contacting the woman in any way, Grant then sent abusive messages to the victim’s phone later that same day.

And he then breached his restraining order a third time the following day (27th January 2022), this time harassing her over email.

Grant, of Melford Road, Bilborough, attended Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 24 March 2022, where he pleaded guilty to assault by beating and three counts of breaching a restraining order.

He then appeared before Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday (1st June 2022), where he was sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Grant was also handed a renewed restraining order to run until 2025.

Inspector Kate Savage, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Grant knowingly breached his restraining order multiple times, despite being warned by the courts what would happen if he did.

“On one of these occasions and seemingly for the sole purpose of harassing his victim, he showed up unannounced at her home and assaulted her for no reason at all.

“There is absolutely no excuse for anyone to ever act in this manner, so I’m pleased to see that Grant has now received a custodial sentence for his behaviour.
