Woman killed in three vehicle smash near Annan named as Melissa Delaney

A 41-year-old man was also pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman who died following a three vehicle smash near Annan has been named as Melissa Delaney from Dumfries.

Officers were called to a report of a crash involving a Peugeot Boxer van, a Nissan Qashqai and a Renault Clio on the A75 around 6.20am on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended, however the 35-year-old male driver of the van and Melissa, the 41-year-old driver of the Nissan, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The families of both are aware.

The 49-year-old male driver of the Renault Clio was not injured.

The road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers are looking to speak to witnesses.

Road Policing Inspector Adnan Alam said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who died, and all those involved in the collision. We continue to offer them support as our enquiries progress.

“I’d be keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or anyone with dashcam footage of the A75 around that time, please review your footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
