Elderly woman dies in Stranraer after being hit by van

The 85-year-old was on Sheuchan Street on Saturday morning

An elderly woman has died after hit by a van in

The incident happened around 10.20am on Sheuchan Street near the junction with Park Lane and involved a white Vauxhall Vivaro van.

Emergency services attended and the 85-year-old woman, was taken to hospital where she later died. No one else was injured.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 7.15pm.

Sergeant Scott Costley said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“We are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch. Also, if you were driving in the area please check any dash-cam footage you have to see if it has captured something that could assist with our investigation.”
