The 25th annual Wigtown Book Festival has been off to a busy start, with momentum remaining high heading into the final weekend.

Organisers say Saturday and Sunday will bring with them fun for all ages, with festival mascot ‘Big Wig’ meeting with local children and adults alike as anticipation builds.

Among the family friendly schedule is an interactive ‘Two Beano Ed's Make Mega Mischief’ event, hosted by Mike Stirling, Beano’s Director of Mischief, and Craig Graham, Director of Mayhem.

The audience will find out what it takes to be the next Beano Editor, and get the chance to be part of the Biggest Prank Ever Played in Wigtown.

Exactly what that entails will become clear to those heading along for the event at the County Buildings in Wigtown at 10:30 on Saturday the 30th of September.

It's set to be a busy couple of days

But, that’s just the start of the weekend programme, with Michael Morpurgo also in town as well as Nigel Planer and Kate Mosse who are set to make appearances.

Festival artistic director Adrian Turpin has been speaking on the events so far: “We couldn’t have wished for a better start to the 25th annual Wigtown Book Festival.

“The town has been really buzzing with energy.”

As the buzz continues into this weekend, people are encouraged to head online for a full schedule of activities, talks, and workshops available on the Wigtown Book Festival Website.
