There will be no household waste collections during the eight-day strike across Dumfries and Galloway.

Council leaders and trade unions are discussing the national pay dispute and will potentially agree to a day deal.

Until then, the region can expect to see major disruption from 14th to 21st August.

This means no household will have collections for general waste, recycling, commercial and food.

A few of the 12 waste recycling centres will be affected.

Dumfries and Galloway Council say: “We understand the impact and inconvenience this will cause and thank customers for their patience. Please check our webpage and our social media accounts for updates. As soon as we have further information, we will share it.”
