As Scottish communities prepare for the inaugural UCI World Championships, local areas are sharing important travel and road closure information which may affect them during and around the event.
The competition gets underway in just a couple of weeks, with events taking place up and down the country, including the Paracycling World Road Championships taking place in Dumfries from the 9th to the 12th of August.
The finish line for the road race will be at the Crichton estate, with the Time Trials finishing on the Whitesands.
Dumfries & Galloway Council have released a full list of road closures and parking suspensions, with details as to when they will be in effect.
Spaces including the entire Whitesands Car Park, Buccleuch Street, Glasgow Road, and Galloway Street are amongst those which will be closed during certain spells.
A comprehensive information sheet has been made available
Closures will vary daily, based on competition schedules. Locals and spectators can view the full list of road closures below.
It’s understood residents on competition routes will also be receiving a hard copy of this information.
The council have made clear that during the time of the road closure orders, no unauthorised vehicles, including cycles, will be permitted.
Spectators are however welcome to attend the event by bike, as long as road rules are obeyed, and care is taken around others.
Fans are advised to pay attention to Police and steward advice, and to move off the course when directed by officials.
A series of road shows will be taking place from Monday the 31st of July, for those wanting to find out more about the competition. A full list of shows is also available in the council's information document above.
