Two people taken to hospital following 'multi-vehicle collision' near Langholm

Two people have been taken to hospital following a collision involving a car, a van and a lorry on the A7 north of Langholm.

Emergency services raced to the scene - near Ewes Hall, south of Teviothead - after the alarm was raised around 12.30pm this afternoon (Tuesday).

A 48-year-old man has been taken to the Cumberland Infirmary, while a 57-year-old man has been taken Borders General Hospital.

Police say enquiries are ongoing, and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

Borders Buses says the x95 will not serve between Hawick or Carlisle until further notice.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.30pm on Tuesday, we were called to a report of a crash, involving a car, a van and a lorry, on the A7, north of Langholm.

"Emergency services attended and one man, aged 48, was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary. A 57-year-old man was taken Borders General Hospital, Galashiels. 

"The road is closed to allow for recovery and collision investigation.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
