Two people have been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Castle Douglas last night.

Officers were called to a report of a man seriously injured in the Dee Avenue area of the town around 10.20pm.

A 45-year-old man was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.

An 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman have been charged following the incident.

They are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 28 May, 2024.

Detective Inspector Scott Wilson said: “I am appealing for anyone with any information, CCTV footage or dash-cam footage which may assist our enquiries to contact police.

“There will be an increased police presence while we carry out our investigation and anyone with any concerns or information can contact these officers.”
