Three teenagers have been arrested over the theft of an SUV that had guns in the back.

The 4 x 4 was stolen from the Colfin area of Stranraer on February 19. Later that day officers swooped on a property in the town where they found the vehicle and the firearms.

Three male youths – two 15-year-old and a 17-year-old – were arrested and charged in connection with the theft.

Officers say their inquiries are continuing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of the theft of a 4x4 vehicle from land in the Colfin area near Stranraer around 6.40am on Friday, 16 February.

“The vehicle was later recovered and three male youths, aged 15, 15, and 17, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
