Dumfries saw thousands of people at the Youth Beatz Festival
Families and young people attended this two-day event.
Around 40,000 people filled the showground at Park Farm in Dumfries for the UK’s largest free youth music festival.
The Youth Beatz festival was supported by acts on the Main Stage, Second Stage and Dance Stage.
The Main Stage featured some well-known performers such as Alice Deejay, Cascada, and Jonas Blue and on the Second Stage, some local people including Reece Williamson, Connie Ewart and Megan Black each had shows over the weekend.
Dance acts from Stranraer, Newton Stewart, Lockerbie, and more also hit the stage.
There was also a wide range of other attractions from giant inflatables to amusement rides, from face painting to children’s entertainers.
The Toon youth drama production resulted in being an important feature of Youth Beatz.
The interactive experience was aimed towards young people aged 14 to 25, showcasing current issues that could be affecting them now or later in life, for example, domestic abuse, drugs and alcohol, mental health and bullying, by putting on short interpretive scenes to an audience of nearly 2,500.
A spokesperson from Dumfries and Galloway Council said: Dumfries and Galloway Council is once again delighted with the high-quality event that has been delivered in our region.
"As the UK’s largest free youth music festival, Youth Beatz has highlighted what our region has to offer and this would not be possible without the help and valuable inputs of all the dedicated staff, Events Team and volunteers both youth and adult, and we are incredibly appreciative of all of their fantastic efforts.
“Youth Beatz is more than a music festival, it allows young people to broaden their horizons and to try new things, and we already can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2025.”
One music fan who came for both days, Saturday and Sunday, tells us what his highlight was: “I saw Greatest Dimensions, SLIX, and other headliners. The music has very bouncy, very house music type vibes – I just loved it!”
Harriot Russell also loved the music but preferred the second stage: “It was mainly rock and metal music, but they were also talking about different genres of music too and what else they do. It was pretty good to be honest.”
This event saw families and young people travel from all parts of Scotland. One said: “Came down from the central belt and are so happy we came down, was plenty for the kids to do and see! Thank you to all of the organisers for the obvious hard work that goes into this event.”
