A plant pot winning streak ends in success for Stranraer gran after winning People’s Postcode Lottery jackpot prize.

70-year-old Lynn Scott had gotten used to only winning flowerpots in the local golf club raffle which has become a running joke with her family so was shocked to discover her and her husband Tom, 75, had won £250,000.

‘The funny thing is our joke in the family is that if and when I ever when a raffle, it’s always a plant pot which inevitably dies in a few days.

‘So now they’re telling me I haven’t got a plant pot, I’ve got a jackpot which should hopefully last a bit longer.’

Both were gobsmacked to see how much they've won

The grandparents haven’t decided what to spend the money on yet but are in no rush to splash the cash.

‘We will enjoy the moment as we have never won anything like this before. We will take our time and think about what we will do with it.

The proud parents of two and grandparents of four also said they’ve been overwhelmed with the support and kind messages from friends and family who are thrilled for them both.

But what really puts the cherry on top for them is money will also be donated to local charities.

‘To top it all, we have now learnt that Stranraer will get lovely donations to various charities which is really needed, and Stranraer is a wee quiet place on the coast of Scotland so this will be lovely, and this really pleases us’ says Mrs Scott.
