Police raid finds illegal cigarettes, tobacco and cash from premises on Dumfries High Street
Four men have been arrested and charged in connection
More than 30,000 cigarettes have been seized during a police raid in Dumfries.
Community officers also found 15kg of rolling tobacco and £8,000 in cash in the premises on the High Street on Friday, 5 September.
Four men, aged 24, 28, 28 and 31, are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court after being arrested and charged in connection.
This follows a previous incident in July of this year, where a large number of non-duty-paid cigarettes and tobacco were recovered in Dumfries.
Dumfries and Galloway Council Trading Standards were also involved in both of these searches.
Three men, aged 25, 28, and 31, were arrested in connection with the case, and HMRC is progressing it.
Inspector Boyd from Dumfries Community Policing Unit said, “These operations highlight our commitment to targeting those involved in serious and organised crime in Dumfries.
“If you have information regarding those involved in the supply of illegal cigarettes and tobacco, then contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
