Police are urging the person who helped a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle near Stranraer to come forward

Police are looking to speak with the driver of a car who helped an injured pedestrian following a crash on the A77 near Lochans yesterday.

The incident happened around 6.10 am a couple of miles from Stranraer when a white Vauxhall van came into contact with a woman on foot - she was taken to hospital for treatment.

The road was shut for around eight and a half hours.

Constable Luke Bell said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage of the area at the time to contact us.

"We are also keen to speak to the driver of a car who stopped to assist the pedestrian."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0580 of 26 December, 2024.
