23-year-old man dies in Lockerbie lorry crash

The fatal road crash happened late Tuesday night.

Police are looking for information that can help identify what happened following the fatal crash involving a car and a lorry on the B7076.

The accident happened near the junction with the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie Road late on Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the scene around 11.55pm.

Emergency services also attended and pronounced the 23-year-old driver of the BMW 1 series dead at the scene.

The 65-year-old man who was driving the lorry did not need to go to hospital for treatment.

Sergeant Colin Ramage said: “We are providing support to the family of the man who died as our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this crash.

“We would appeal to anyone who was driving on the B7076 around the time of the crash, who either witnessed it take place or who has any information that may assist. Any driver with dashcam footage is asked to please contact us as soon as possible.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a red car travelling southbound on the B7076 prior to the crash who may be able to assist with our investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 4261 of 29 October.”
