Man dies in fatal crash on A75 near Springholm

The road remains closed.

A 32-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash along the A75 near Springholm, near Castle Douglas.

Police are appealing for any information following the accident on Friday, 20 September around 1.15 am, involving a silver Ford Mondeo and white Scania HGV.

The 57-year-old lorry driver was taken to Galloway Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

The road remains closed for an investigation to be carried out and isn’t expected to reopen until this evening.

Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch. Likewise, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then make contact with officers.”

Police are urging anyone with information to call 101, quoting incident number 0209 of 20 September.
