Man dies after jet ski crash in Dumfries & Galloway

The 42-year-old was airlifted to Glasgow's QEU after the collision near Gatehouse of Fleet where he passed away

A man has died after two jet skis crashed into each other off the coast of Dumfries and Galloway

The 42-year-old was airlifted to Glasgow's QEU after the incident near Gatehouse of Fleet around half five last night

However, he died in the hospital this morning - police say they're investigating. The other rider wasn’t injured and the man’s family has been informed.

The man was helped to shore where coastguard crews from Prestwick transferred him to Mossyard. He was found to have suffered serious injuries and he was taken onboard an air ambulance.

Detective Inspector Graeme Robertson said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family and everyone affected by this tragic incident.

“Our enquiries to establish what led to this collision are ongoing and at an early stage.

“I would urge anyone with information regarding what happened, or if they were present and saw anything to come forward.
