A man has been found dead on the shore at the Mull of Galloway.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 5.40am on Monday, 7 August, 2023, the body of a man was discovered at the shore at Mull of Galloway.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The public are being advised that visitor attractions at the location, which marks Scotland's most southerly point, are closed at the moment.

Taking to social media, RSPB Dumfries & Galloway wrote:

“Due to an incident at the Mull of Galloway, the Gallie Craig café, lighthouse exhibition, and RSPB visitor centre will not be opening today. Our apologies for the inconvenience.”
