Boy charged in connection with fire at former Dumfries convent

A 12-year-old boy has been charged following the blaze which broke out on Tuesday evening

A 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a fire at the former Convent building in Dumfries, which broke out on Tuesday 16th May.

The building on Maxwell Street is cordoned off, as officers remain at the scene in the interest of public safety. It’s understood that all roads have now been reopened.

The fire marks the second blaze at the old Convent in less than a year.
