An individual has been taken to hospital to be checked over following an incident at the River Nith in Dumfries, which occurred in the early afternoon on Thursday the 13th of July.

Police, ambulance, as well as fire and rescue services were all in attendance, with several personnel entering the water to aid the individual at the centre of concerns.

Police says the person was traced safely and taken by ambulance to hospital to be checked over.

Worried onlookers gathered on the Whitesands, to watch as the matter was swiftly resolved.

Police controlled access to the response area by temporarily closing the pedestrian Devorgilla Bridge for the duration of the incident.
