Man found dead in overturned mobility scooter in Dumfries

Police have issued an appeal after a man was found dead in an overturned mobility scooter yesterday.

The 60-year-old was discovered by a member of the public on Newton Meadows near to the crossroads junction at Plantation Cottage around 7.05pm.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen him on the road between 6.30pm and 7.05pm.

Sergeant Scott McCreadie, Roads Policing Unit, Dumfries and Galloway, said:

“Although the area where the man was found is quite remote, we would appeal to anyone who may have seen him on his mobility scooter on the road between 6.30 pm and 7.05 pm.

“If you have any information that may assist our investigation, which at this time does not appear suspicious, please call officers via 101 and quote reference number 3136 of Thursday, 30 March 2023.”
