Child bitten by dog in Dumfries forest

The incident happened around Tuesday afternoon.

Police are appealing for any information to trace the owner of the dog that allegedly bit a child last Tuesday in Heathhall Forest, near Dumfries.

The incident is reported to have happened around 12.30pm when the dog – described as black and medium-sized - was off the lead.

Its owner was seen wearing a purple jacket and was an older woman with blonde hair who is believed to have exited the forest near Heathhall Industrial Estate.

The police are urging anyone to come forward with information that can help identify the owner or anything relating to the incident, calling 101 and quoting incident number 2478 of the 15th August 2024.
