Kippford RNLI seek volunteers to help save more lives
Anyone over 18 can apply.
A charity is issuing an urgent appeal for volunteers to keep its lifeline service running.
Without the numbers, Kippford RNLI is at risk of being unable to continue operating the way it is just now - this could affect future call outs.
One of the life-saving team members Laura Wilson says having a full team can make all the difference:
“Without an adequate number of crew, Kippford RNLI wouldn’t be able to launch the lifeboat when needed. Having sufficient covers allows the crew to have time off the pager for things like holidays and still keeps us operational to save lives at sea when required.
“Without volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to continue saving lives at sea. Our volunteers not only crew lifeboats but ensure the boats can launch safely every time it is required.
“We also have vital volunteers who raise funds and help keep the charity operational.”
She describes what is required of an ideal candidate:
“We’re currently looking for men and women who live in and around the Kippford and Dalbeattie areas who can give their time to help save lives. You must be over 18 and the boat crew must be over the age of 55.”
Wilson added that no experience is needed as all training required will be provided.
There is an event at the boat station on Sunday 7th between 10am and 12pm.
