Police in Lockerbie are appealing for information after a child riding a pony was almost hit by a car.

Officers received reports of dangerous driving at 7:25PM on Sunday 15 September on the Lockerbie to Dalton road, just after the A74(M) over-bridge

The driver of a grey Volkswagen Golf is said to have been driving at excessive speeds and skidded onto the opposite side of the road to avoid a collision with a child on a pony and another vehicle ahead.

The road is popular for horseback riders and has signs alerting drivers to their presence.

Lockerbie Roads Policing said: "If you observed this vehicle or were travelling on the Dalton to Lockerbie road at this time and have dash cam footage that may assist officers with their enquiries, please contact 101, quoting incident number 2941 of 15/09/2024."
