A public meeting is set to take place in Dumfries this evening, following the decision to postpone the towns popular Big Burns Supper Festival until 2025.

Organisers announced the news last week, sparking disappointment amongst longstanding supporters.

Founder Graham Main said funding is the problem, but is eager to discuss the festivals future with the people it matters most to.

It's understood everyone is welcome at tonight’s meeting at number 70 on the High Street, with discussions getting underway at 5pm.

Following the announcement to postpone the event, the Big Burns Supper team have been thanking their supporters:

"We have been blown away by your emails and messages of support and will get back to you all as soon as we can.

"It is very clear that Big Burns Supper means a great deal to communities across Dumfries & Galloway. Thank you so much."

They say they're remaining hopeful for a positive future, for the much loved event.
