An 83-year-old man and a 77-year-old man were taken to hospital with serious injuries and three further men, aged 77, 60, and 31, were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed for about nine hours and reopened around 8 p.m. and police are now appealing for information.

Sergeant Colin Ramage said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.

"We also ask anyone driving in the area at the time with dashcam footage to come forward."
