Castle Douglas assault now being treated as attempted murder

Police have charged three men in connection.

Police are asking for anyone with more information to come forward.

Three men have been charged in connection with an attempted murder in Castle Douglas.

Police initially arrested the men in relation to a disturbance and serious assault.

That's now been upgraded to a more sever charge.

Officers were called to a property on Wallace Court around 11:30PM on Thursday, 2 January, 2025 - where they found a 38-year-old man with serious injuries.

He was rushed to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary - it's not yet known if the man has been discharged.

The men arrested, aged 29, 39, and 49 will appear at Dumfries Sheriff court on Monday, 6 January, 2025.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Castle Douglas.

"Officers attended at a property on Wallace Court in the town around 11.30pm on Thursday, 2 January.

"A 38-year-old man was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

"The three men, aged 29, 39 and 49, are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday, 6 January, 2025."
