Five young people have been banned from entering a shop in Weymouth.

Westham Neighbourhood Policing Team have visited a number of young people over the weekend who've been identified as being responsible for recent reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.

Issues included repeated nuisance behaviour towards shop staff on Abbotsbury Road and also reports of doors of residential properties being repeatedly struck.

Many of those targeted have been older, vulnerable people who police say "have been left shaken up."

A spokesperson for Weymouth & Portland Police said:

"All of those visited over the weekend were spoken to with their parents present who were very supportive of police action.

"Five of those visited today were also issued with banning letters from the shop which have been experiencing issues.

"Safeguarding referral forms have also been submitted for those who have been visited, which will automatically go through to our partner agencies to make them aware, so further support and intervention can be put in place.

"The Neighbourhood Team will continue to conduct patrols in the area and make follow up visits to see those who come to our attention.

"Please continue to report any issues or concerns to us so we are aware and can take the appropriate action. We cannot be everywhere at once and rely on community information so we can better direct our patrols. "
