Youth in Weymouth found with suspected drugs and a hammer

A youth who ran away from police officers in Weymouth was found in possession of suspected drugs and a hammer.

Two youths were detained by police in the Wyke Road Tunnel of Rodwell Trail on Friday night. (15 January)

One of them made off and was eventually stopped in Westwey Road.

He was arrested and police carried out a search of an address.

A spokesman for Weymouth & Portland Police said:

"One of the males decided to run off from officers and was detained on Westwey Road after a lengthy foot pursuit.

"The same male was subsequently found in possession of suspected drugs, items associated with drugs supply and a hammer.

"The male was arrested and a search of an address was conducted a short time later. Enquiries into the matter continue.

"The search of the male who remained with officers proved to be negative.

"He was taken home and his left in the care of his parents. They were suitably advised regarding current restrictions.

"Many thanks to members of the public who assisted officers when they were in pursuit of the young male."
