Dorset is set to be lashed by a band of heavy rain tonight, with forecasters saying some disruption can be expected.

A yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued by the Met Office from this afternoon until 4am tomorrow morning (Tuesday 5th October).

The yellow warning covers most of Wales and all of South-West England, extending as far east as Oxford.

Between 20 and 30 millimetres of rain could fall in just a few hours tonight, with up to 50 millimetres – or 2 inches – possible in some areas.

It’ll become drier over the course of the evening as the band of heavy rain moves eastwards.

The Met Office says some homes and businesses may be flooded, and warns road flooding will make journeys take longer, with bus and train services also affected.
