Schools have only been back 4 days and now an entire year group at a school in Weymouth are already having to self-isolate.

It follows confirmed cases of Covid-19 at Budmouth Academy.

Since returning to school students have been tested for Covid-19.

The testing programme at Budmouth Academy identified what the school say are "some positive cases."

All year 10 students have now been asked to self-isolate for 10 days and are back to remote learning.

Other members of the household can continue normal activities, provided their child does not develop symptoms within the 10 day self-isolation period.

There has also been a confirmed case in Budmouth's 6th form but that year group can still attend school and only close contacts have been asked to stay at home.

In a letter to parents, Principal David Herbert said:

"It is very unfortunate that we have had to take this action so soon after returning, however, it is in the best interests of our school and wider community that we do so."

It's hoped Year 10 will be able to return to face-to-face lessons on the Tuesday 23rd March.
