A KFC is coming to Weymouth town centre and it is not the only new restaurant the fast food chain are opening in the county this year.

KFC are opening their second Weymouth restaurant in the former Warren James jewellers on St Mary street.

The other is a restaurant and drive-through found in Jubilee Close, which the company will be maintaining.

A Spokesperson from KFC told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset: “Yes, the rumours are true – we’re looking at bringing a new KFC to town.

"We know the people of Weymouth are big fans of our delicious fried chicken so we’re busy getting our chicks in a row. Watch this space.”

The new KFC is going where Warren James used to be

The fast food chain are using a local company for the installation on St Mary Street.

Express Refrigeration will begin works on the new restaurant in October.

They have been carrying out works for KFC in Dorset for about 15 to 20 years and are helping with two other new restaurants due to open in New Milton and Castle Point.

Speaking to Greatest Hits Radio Rose Pomeroy, Office Manager at Express Refrigeration, said:

"We have always worked hard to maintain our relationship with KFC. We always look forward to working with them on new stores and refits.

"We as a company would say that although hospitality, travel and tourism have faced a challenging and uncertain 18 months. We are busier than we have been in a long time.

"Our customers seem to be investing significantly in their businesses and the local area. It is fantastic to see our long term customers doing well."
