Woman taken to hospital after fall at Portland Bill
Coastguard Rescue teams were called out yesterday afternoon
A woman has been taken to hospital after suffering a fall on rocks near the lighthouse at Portland Bill.
Coastguard Rescue teams were called to the scene yesterday afternoon.
She sustained a serious leg injury and was carried by stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
A spokesperson for Portland Bill Coastguard Rescue Team said:
"We were tasked by Solent Coastguard along with our colleagues Wyke Coastguard CRT and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Paramedics to provide care to a lady who had fallen onto rocks near to Portland Bill Lighthouse.
"She had sustained a serious leg injury and multiple other minor injuries. On scene the teams were able to treat the casualty for her injuries and package her into the teams stretcher to be carried to a place of safety.
"Once ambulance paramedics arrived on scene the casualty was transferred into their care, to be taken to Dorset County Hospital for further treatment.
"Thank you to the off duty nurse who had assisted the lady prior to our arrival."
