Woman killed in Weymouth collision named

Sarah Lewis died at the scene of the crash earlier this month

62 year old Sarah Lewis from Weymouth was walking along Lynch Lane when the incident happened at around 9.40am on Monday 16th November.

She was involved in a collision with a lorry and passed away at the scene.

An inquest has opened into her death yesterday (Friday 27th November).

Dorset Police have released a statement:

"Sarah's family said they would like to thank the emergency services for their hard work in such difficult circumstances. They added that they would also like to express their deepest gratitude to those witnesses who risked their own safety to comfort Sarah until first responders arrived."

Her family continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

The lorry driver wasn't hurt.

The collision happened along Lynch Lane in Weymouth on 16th November

RENEWED APPEAL FOR WITNESSES

Police Constable Leanne Steedman, of the traffic unit, said:

"Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of Sarah Lewis at this difficult time.

"We are continuing to urge any witnesses to this collision, or anyone who was driving in the area and may have captured something relevant on dashcam, to please contact us."
