Elderly woman suffers hip fracture after being hit by Dorchester van
The driver didn't leave his full details
A woman in her 80s has suffered a fractured hip after being struck by a van in Dorchester town centre.
She was crossing High East Street on foot when the van collided with her.
She went up onto the bonnet, and landed back on her feet, but later suffered hip pain and needed medical treatment for a fracture.
The driver of the van did stop at the scene, but didn't leave full details.
This happened at around 1.50pm on Saturday 2nd July, and reported to police a week later, with officers now appealing for any witnesses.
Sergeant Geraint Butler, of the Dorset Police road traffic unit, said:
“I appreciate that some time has passed since the collision. Unfortunately, it was only reported to police around a week after it happened.
“However, it occurred during a busy time of the day when many people would have been in town and I hope that somebody might still remember seeing the collision.
“I would ask anyone with information about the incident who has not yet spoken with police to please come forward.
“In particular, I would like to hear from a man who came to the scene from a nearby camping shop and a man and a woman who were also in the vicinity with their two daughters as they may have information that could assist my investigation.”
