Woman assaulted by man on Weymouth's Westham Bridge

Police have made an arrest, but want to hear from witnesses

A woman in her 40s has been assaulted in broad daylight on a Weymouth bridge.

The incident happened at around 3.00pm on Sunday (2nd July), on Westham Bridge, but she didn't suffer serious injuries.

A local man in his 40s, who's known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

He's been bailed as investigations continue.

PC Nathan Busby, of Dorset Police, is hoping there might be witnesses who can help their enquiries:

“We are continuing to make enquiries into this incident, which occurred in the middle of the afternoon in a public place.

“I would urge anyone who saw what happened, or who has any information that might assist our investigation, to please contact us.”
