Woman assaulted by man in Weymouth
An elderly couple tried to intervene on Chickerell Road
Police in Weymouth are investigating an assault by a man against a woman, which was reported to them by a third party.
It's alleged a man was seen grabbing a woman and shouting at her in Chickerell Road at the junction with Dennis Road, between 10.00 and 11.00pm on the Friday before last (14th March).
An elderly couple tried to intervene, with the man throwing something towards them and becoming aggressive.
Police also found a red leather jacket and a handbag, believed to belong to the female victim nearby.
The man involved is described as:
- White
- Brown hair
- Medium build
- Wearing a black Jack Daniels t-shirt
The woman's described as having long dark hair, and wearing a red top with light coloured jeans.
PC Marco Saunders, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this matter and we are particularly keen to speak to the woman involved to check that she is all right and also hopefully reunite her with her property.
“We are also keen to speak to the elderly couple who intervened during the incident, or any other witnesses who have not already spoken to police.”
