Woman, 70's, treated in hospital after dog bite in Weymouth

She was bitten on the leg while walking along Wyke Regis High Street

Police are investigating after a woman in her 70's was bitten by a dog in Weymouth.

The woman was walking along Wyke Regis High Street at around 10.30am on Wednesday 21 September when a woman with a West Highland Terrier or similar dog walked past. As they did so, the dog bit her on the calf causing a cut that required hospital treatment.

Description

The woman with the dog is described as aged in her 80s with short grey curly hair and glasses. She is believed to have left the scene in the direction of Parkmead Road.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries into this incident and I would urge anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please contact us.

“I would also like to urge the dog owner involved to please come forward so we can take your account of what happened.”
