When Prince Philip met Mr Punch in Weymouth
Weymouth's very own Punch and Judy man look back at his meeting with the Duke of Edinburgh
Punch and Judy is a staple of the British seaside, something the Queen and Prince Philip were treated to when they visited Weymouth in 2009.
Mark Poulton was given the opportunity to perfrom for the royal couple near the Pavilion.
He said:
"I met the royal couple on a visit when they came up to visit Weymouth in 2009. It was on the beach at the pavilion end.
"Mark the sand man built a scaled down replica of Windsor castle and I was one of the four or five people presented to the Queen being a traditional attraction owner on the beach.
"I made the Queen laugh, or Mr Punch made the Queen laugh, which was good.
"Prince Philip was looking around when I met him, looking around for the booth. I think he was more interested in the actual booth than Mr Punch.
"It was only a brief moment but it was very memorable."
