Weymouth's Elf World Record attempt falls short

It was a great turn out of elves for the Christmas Lights switch-on, but not quite enough for the record books!

Weymouth's World Record attempt for the biggest gathering of elves has sadly fallen short.

1,047 elves appeared in the town for the Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday.

That wasn't quite enough to break the current World Record but organisers say they'll try again next year.

Dawn Rondeau Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth said:

“We are so delighted with the elf extravaganza that took place in Weymouth on 27thNovember 2021. To see the town come together and dress up as elves was just amazing.

"Although we did not beat the record for the numbers of people dressed as Elves this time around – we had a wonderful turnout and we’ve really laid the ground work for a 2022 attempt, when we’re excited to invite Guinness World Record to adjudicate.”

The event is now due to be shown on ITV's This Morning on Thursday.
