Weymouth volunteers needed to help welcome Tour of Britain cyclists
A one-off art project's planned for this Saturday (10th September)
As the prestigious Tour of Britain cycle race comes to Dorset in a matter of days, there are plans to create a huge spectacle for the TV cameras.
Weymouth Town Council is asking for volunteers to join them at the Tumbledown space in Southill between 10.00 and 12.00pm on Saturday (10th September).
They want people to be part of a large design spelling out WEYMOUTH and a penny-farthing style bicycle.
Those taking part will be asked to stand in place and hold up a red, white or blue card in honour of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee year.
It's hoped the artwork will be visible from the air and picked up by helicopters flying to film the race for live TV coverage.
Local residents are being asked to take part, so they can walk or cycle to the site.
Nearby roads will be closed for the race itself, making other forms of transport difficult.
Other family activities are planned at Tumbledown while the Tour of Britain passes by, like bug house building, a nature trail and woodland walk.
