Over £300 of items stolen from Weymouth supermarket

Police have arrested two people on suspicion of theft

More than £300 worth of items have been stolen from a Weymouth supermarket, with two people arrested.

Officers were called to reports of two known local shoplifters inside the Tesco Express on St Thomas Street on Wednesday morning (24th July).

Items including bottles of wine, spirits, cleaning products and washing tablets were taken.

Police found two suspects hiding in bushes by the Harbour and arrested them on suspicion of theft.

In a social media post, Weymouth Police said the individuals are known to officers and are 'taking it upon themselves to commit crimes'.

They also said such actions 'will not be tolerated'.
